Hey there! So you just found out you’re pregnant? First off, big hugs – I know this can feel like A LOT to take in. Whether you’re feeling excited, scared, or maybe a little bit of both (totally normal!), we’re here to walk you through what happens next.
Let’s Talk About Your First Doctor’s Visit
Look, I get it – doctor’s appointments can be nerve-wracking, especially when you’re not sure what to expect. But think of this first visit as just sitting down with someone who’s there to help you figure things out. No judgment, just support!
When Should You Go?
As soon as you think you might be pregnant! Don’t have a pregnancy test yet? No worries – there are places that offer free pregnancy tests near you. Just reach out to us, and we’ll point you in the right direction, or you can find a location here.
What to Bring With You
Let’s keep this simple! Here’s what you’ll want to have:
- A list of any medicines you take (even vitamins!)
- The date of your last period (if you can remember – if not, that’s okay too!)
- Any questions you’ve been wondering about (seriously, write them down – pregnancy brain is real!)
What Actually Happens at the First Visit?
Confirming Your Pregnancy
First things first – they’ll probably do another pregnancy test, even if you’ve already done one at home. They might also do a blood test to double-check everything’s good.
The Check-up Part
Your doctor or nurse will:
- Check your weight and blood pressure
- Ask about you and your family’s health history
- Do some basic health checks
Don’t worry – they’ll explain everything as they go along!
The Fun Part – Your First Ultrasound!
This is the exciting part where you might get to see your little one for the first time! Can’t afford an ultrasound? We know places that offer free ultrasounds near you – just ask!

Each time, they’ll check how you and your baby are doing and answer any new questions you have.
